Discport Executive for NT
provides all the advanced CD-ROM and DVD-ROM system management capabilities
needed to turn a standard Windows NT server into a complete network CD/DVD-ROM
system management capabilities needed to turn a standard Windows NT server
into a complete network CD/DVD-ROM system. Discport Executive's unique
CD Update Wizard saves hours of valuable time by automating the update
process for subscription volumes. The AutoShare utility catalogs CD-ROM
and DVD-ROM volumes and detects media changes and shares. It also shares
CD-ROMs automatically according to predefined permissions and directory
structures. Compatibility with NetWare, NFS, Mac Services and Microsoft
Network file shares means Discport Executive for NT can serve CDs and
DVDs network wide, regardless of platform. Discport Executive also features
Fast CD, which makes applications run up to 300 times faster by creating
virtual CDs on high-speed hard drives.
About the Discport Environment
A Discport Executive installation
consists of a Windows NT 4.0 (or higher) server computer and a number
of client computer running DOS, Microsoft Windows, Windows for Workgroups,
Windows NT, Windows 95, or Mac OS.
CD/DVD-ROM titles are installed
in CD-ROM drives and jukeboxes attached to the server and accessed from
the client computers over a connecting network. The server is also used
as a management station; the configuration utility (a control panel applet)
and several Discport Executive management tools are only available on
the server.
